Welcome to OXiDATE RUBBISH PHOTOGRAPHY OXiDATE RUBBISH PHOTOGRAPHY is dedicated to capturing photographs of the things around us that are so often ignored, the things that we pass by every day and choose not to see.
My name is John, I am professional designer and photographer. Like most people I am concerned about our environment and the way in which we treat it, but what difference can i make, I am just one person? So, decided to document what I see around me. I look at the things other people ignore and I photograph them.
I hope that you will be inspired by some of my photography, and if it makes you think, then I am making a little difference.
Graffiti Photography
Graffiti is everywhere, but does anyone ever pay it any attention? Should we pay it any attention?
Society considers graffiti to be the work of vandals and rebellious youth. But, the concept of graffiti goes back to the dawn of time, and in my opinion it has to be considrered as an art form. It is a medium for young people to express themselves in a society which does not give them an adequate voice. Graffiti is of course often unsightly and undesirable, but so often has a strong message.
Everyday sights, objects and even trash can have their own beauty, it's just a question of how you see it.
Rubbish makes for unusual photography, so I hope that by photographing it in it's environment I can highlight the impact and perhaps there will be just a little bit less.
Of course, it would be so much better if the rubbish wasn't there to start with, so Think twice though abuot dropping your litter on the ground, I might photograph it and put it on this web site!
A walk along the coast invariably reveals the impact of people on the environment. It is perhaps the coastal environment itself that really highlights our effect with the contrast of raw nature against 'man-made' objects.
There will be things people have left behind after a day at the beach and things that get washed up from shipping and along the coast. Even nature itself dumps on the shoreline.
Industry leaves it's mark all over the place, in lots of different ways. Lots of it is obvious, and some of it is a little more subtle.
Things are dumped all over our precious environment because they no longer serve a purpose. Mostly we don't see them, because we choose not go go there, and because nobody goes there more things get dumped. Getting close is not always that easy, there will be barbed wire, fences and locks to keep you out. But is it for your own safety?
Maybe the countryside is out of site and out of mind for most of us these days? Rural locations offer great opportunities for photography and old rustic scenes have some place in this gallery.
But, we always think of the countrysde as peaceful, untouched and idyllic lanscapes, but take a walk in the countryside and sooner or later you will stumble upon something out of place.
